At home or the yard
Gateway
LoRa + BLE → WiFi or LTE · IP65 · 10 W solar kit included
Pre-order now — the first wave is expected to ship November 2026. Early orders ship first; later orders join the next wave.
Every Hivewire setup needs one box that talks to the internet; this is it. It uploads over home WiFi or built-in LTE, and can run all-in-one with no Hub.

Hivewire Gateway — The Bridge Between Your Bees and the Cloud
Every Hivewire yard needs one box that talks to the internet. This is that box.
Choose your plan when it arrives. Your Hivewire plan starts when you activate your gateway, not when you order. Scan the card in the box, create your account, and pick the plan that fits your sensors. Cellular gateways include their first year of cellular service.
The Hivewire Gateway collects readings from your hubs and sensors over long-range LoRa mesh radio and delivers them to the cloud — over your home WiFi, or over built-in LTE from a yard with no internet for miles. Housed in an IP65 weatherproof enclosure, it's built to live outside year-round. Pair it with a solar kit and it runs itself: no outlets, no visits, no downtime.
Two gateways, one system
Gateway (WiFi). The right choice when the yard is within reach of a network. Bluetooth, LoRa mesh and WiFi radios: it listens to the LoRa mesh (and, if you like, to the hives around it) and backhauls everything over WiFi. Compact, low-power, and simple: plug it in, join it to your network, done.
Gateway (WiFi + Cellular). The go-anywhere gateway. Three radios (Bluetooth, LoRa mesh, WiFi) plus a built-in LTE modem with GPS, so a remote out-yard reports home just like the hives behind your house. A cellular data plan is included for the first year — the SIM ships installed and activated on the AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon networks, so it connects out of the box. Engineered for austere sites: aggressive data compression keeps a season of telemetry within a low-cost IoT data plan, and store-and-forward memory means readings captured during a network outage upload — at their true timestamps — the moment the connection returns.
One box, five roles — set it at setup, switch anytime
Every Hivewire Gateway is software-defined. Both models can play any of these roles, and you change the role from the device's setup screen without reflashing anything (it restarts on the new role):
- Gateway — has the internet connection, receives your hubs by radio and uploads to Hivewire. A plain gateway doesn't listen to sensors.
- Gateway + Scanner — a gateway that also listens to the sensors at its own hives while still receiving your other hubs. The home yard needs no separate hub.
- All-in-one — one box at your hives that listens to the sensors and has the internet connection itself: a single yard with no separate gateway. Over cellular, a single-box remote yard.
- Hub — sits at your hives, listens to the sensors and sends their readings by radio to a gateway.
- Relay — passes other devices' radio traffic along when a hub and its gateway are too far apart, hopping the mesh over a ridge or across a long yard.
On the WiFi + Cellular model, the gateway roles upload over WiFi, over LTE, or over WiFi with LTE as the fallback — WiFi first, and LTE takes over the moment it drops. Your choice at setup.
Power options
Grid — USB power. If the yard has an outlet, that's all you need.
Standard Solar Kit — a 10 W / 6 V solar panel paired with a 15,000 mAh LiPo battery. Sized for typical sites: the panel tops the battery off by day, the battery carries the gateway through nights and cloudy stretches.
Solar Heavy Kit — built to power a Gateway plus a Tempest weather station at a remote site: a 25 W / 12 V solar panel, a Victron 75/10 MPPT charge controller, and a 7 Ah LiFePO4 battery designed for years of deep cycling. It’s also the right pick for shaded sites and northern winters. Bonus: the Gateway reads the Victron controller wirelessly, so panel wattage, battery voltage, and charge state show up right on your Hivewire dashboard — you’ll know your power system is healthy without driving out to check.
What you'll see
Every gateway reports its own vitals alongside your hive data: signal strength, uplink status, battery and solar telemetry, GPS position, and mesh health. Firmware updates arrive over the air, so the box in the field keeps getting smarter.

In the box
- 1× Hivewire Gateway (WiFi or WiFi + Cellular, per selection) in IP65 weatherproof enclosure
- Antenna(s)
- USB power cable
- Pre-installed, pre-activated SIM with first year of cellular data (WiFi + Cellular)
- Quick-start guide
- Solar kits: panel, battery, charge controller (Heavy kit), mounting hardware, and wiring
Requires a Hivewire account. After the first year, cellular service (WiFi + Cellular models) renews for an annual fee — Hivewire's compressed uplink keeps a full season of telemetry within the smallest IoT data plans.
